Following a conversation in 2012 over a glass of exceptional cool-climate Pinot Noir, the Sartor family began the pursuit of the perfect vineyard site to reflect their vision and the potential for this extraordinary grape in the Okanagan. After an extensive search, a rare opportunity presented itself in the form of a previously undiscovered 25 acre property in Garnet Valley, Summerland.
Five vineyard blocks and seven clones of Pinot Noir were planted in 2016 followed by Chardonnay plantings the following year. Future plantings will consist of more classically Burgundian varieties including Gamay, while a state of the art production facility and tasting room is now complete! The demanding terrain of this place, exemplifies their steadfast dedication to the philosophy of “la lutte raisonee”, meaning the reasoned struggle. This belief is central in all of our choices in farming and winemaking and is showcased in each glass of Solvero wines.
